4834: You do not have permission to use the bulk load statement
SQL ServerWhat does it mean?
You lack the permission required to run a bulk load with BULK INSERT (or OPENROWSET BULK). Bulk loading accesses the file system and server resources directly, so it requires a separate privilege.
Why does it happen?
The login lacks the server-level ADMINISTER BULK OPERATIONS permission or is not a member of the bulkadmin server role (Azure SQL Database requires the database-level ADMINISTER DATABASE BULK OPERATIONS instead). INSERT permission on the target table and read access to the source file for the SQL Server service account are also required.
How to fix it
Grant the required permission: GRANT ADMINISTER BULK OPERATIONS TO login_name; (server level) or add the user to the appropriate role. Azure SQL DB uses ADMINISTER DATABASE BULK OPERATIONS. Also make sure the SQL Server service account has read permission on the target file/share. Following least privilege, grant it only to the accounts that need it.
