Start / stop a replica

Command

STOP REPLICA; START REPLICA;

What it does

Stops and restarts the replication I/O and SQL threads.

When to use it

For maintenance, configuration changes or to fix a replication error.

Caution

This is MySQL 8.0.22+ terminology; older versions use STOP SLAVE / START SLAVE. For the SQL thread only: STOP REPLICA SQL_THREAD; After STOP REPLICA you can run CHANGE REPLICATION SOURCE.
