What it does

Shows in detail the replica's connection to the source, thread states, lag and any errors.

When to use it

To check whether replication is healthy and how far behind it is.

Caution

This is MySQL 8.0.22+ terminology; older versions use SHOW SLAVE STATUS (an alias in 8.0.22–8.3, removed in 8.4). Key fields: Replica_IO_Running and Replica_SQL_Running must be 'Yes', Seconds_Behind_Source shows the lag, Last_Error shows the error.
