3024: Query execution was interrupted, maximum statement execution time exceeded

MySQL

What does it mean?

A SELECT query was interrupted by MySQL because it exceeded the maximum execution time defined for it (max_execution_time / MAX_EXECUTION_TIME hint). This is a timeout safeguard that prevents long-running queries from tying up resources.

Why does it happen?

The query ran longer than the session/global max_execution_time value or the MAX_EXECUTION_TIME(N) optimizer hint on the SELECT. Usually caused by an inefficient plan, a missing index, a large scan or slowdowns under heavy concurrency. (Applies only to read-only SELECTs.)

How to fix it

Analyze the query with EXPLAIN and optimize it (proper indexes, more selective predicates, fewer full table scans). If the query legitimately needs to run long, increase the MAX_EXECUTION_TIME hint for that SELECT or the session max_execution_time. Run heavy analytical queries offline/on a replica.
