233: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred (no process is on the other end of the pipe)
SQL ServerWhat does it mean?
The client reached the server but the connection dropped during the handshake. Usually caused by Named Pipes/TCP configuration, protocol settings or a server-side rejection. Related to 10054 (connection forcibly closed).
Why does it happen?
Shared Memory/Named Pipes/TCP protocols disabled, remote connections not allowed, the account unable to log in (see 18456), a firewall/network outage, or the server forcibly closing the connection (10054).
How to fix it
Enable TCP/IP and, if needed, Named Pipes in SQL Server Configuration Manager and restart the service. Verify that remote connections are allowed. Open the SQL port (default 1433) in the firewall. For authentication problems, examine the 18456 State code in the error log. Check network stability and TLS/encryption settings.
