1526: ER_NO_PARTITION_FOR_GIVEN_VALUE: Table has no partition for value

MySQL

What does it mean?

The partitioning key value of the row you are inserting does not fit any defined partition. In RANGE or LIST partitioning, the insert fails because no partition covers the incoming value.

Why does it happen?

In RANGE partitioning, inserting a value beyond the highest bound with no MAXVALUE partition defined (e.g. a future date); in LIST partitioning, an unlisted value arriving. Common in time-partitioned tables when the partition for the new period is not added in time.

How to fix it

Add a partition that covers the value. A new upper partition for RANGE: ALTER TABLE my_table ADD PARTITION (PARTITION p2026 VALUES LESS THAN (2027)); For a catch-all partition, define MAXVALUE for RANGE and the relevant values for LIST. For time-based tables, set up a maintenance job (event/scheduler) that adds partitions automatically.
